- Cinco de Mayo is one of the largest consumption days of the year for avocados — 53.9 million pounds of avocados are expected to be consumed during this year's Cinco de Mayo celebrations

- Chefs Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger have teamed up with the California Avocado Commission to create unique, avocado-inspired Cinco de Mayo recipes that are available on the California Avocado Commission's Web site, CaliforniaAvocado.com
- California avocados are hand grown in the more than 6,000 avocado groves located in Central and Southern California, by growers who take advantage of the ideal growing conditions of the region to grow this luscious fruit
